Premier League legend Robbie Keane discusses who needs what in the January transfer window in the latest of his exclusive series of blogs.
I had a fantastic time in Qatar for the World Cup, and I believe Argentina and Lionel Messi provided a fitting conclusion.
He’s the best player I’ve ever seen in my generation and the best I’ve ever played against. Everyone secretly hoped he’d do it for someone who has done so much for the game.
It was an honour to bring my two sons and wife to the World Cup final for such an exciting game. They are unlikely to see anything like that again.
But, with the Premier League back in action, I’m excited to see what happens in January.
World Cup players moving
The World Cup serves as a showroom for some players, and this year was no exception.
While a January move may be too soon for some big-name players, they have done nothing to hurt their transfer prospects.
Jude Bellingham is one of my favourites. He was outstanding throughout the tournament and was regarded as one of the best young players.
Arsenal’s title challenge
In general, I don’t think we’ll see many big-name players leave in January, with the possible exception of Arsenal.
When you look at them, they don’t have a proper striker on whom they can rely. Eddie Nketiah is performing admirably for them at the moment, but he is still young.
The absence of Gabriel Jesus is critical for them in maintaining their title challenge. To have a chance of beating Manchester City, I believe they’ll need to go out and sign someone who can score 20 goals per season.
